The plug is the cheapest, safest first purchase in home automation: no wiring, no hub, a physical on/off button on the plug itself, schedules and away mode, and after a one-time link, pure voice — “turn on the lamp.” The in-wall switch is the same idea at the wall, but it needs a neutral wire: electrician or sighted work.
